KiranaTrack
Billing, stock and expiry for a kirana store — plus an advisor that reads your own numbers.
Free, with no account, no subscription and no server. Download it, install it, and everything stays on your own device.
What it is for
Most Indian small shops lose ₹30,000–₹80,000 a year to expired and untracked stock, and most still run on paper. KiranaTrack is the counter-side replacement: a GST billing screen, a stock and expiry ledger, and an advisor that reads the shop's own sales and tells the owner what to reorder, what to discount and what to stop buying — with the rupee amount attached to each suggestion.
Who it is for
Kirana store owners and their staff, who need to bill quickly at the counter and know at closing time what the day actually made.
How to use it
- 1
Add the items you sell on the Stock screen — name, cost, sell price, GST rate and expiry date. Leave the expiry blank for non-perishables like rice, oil or soap, and the app will stop inventing warnings about them. The app opens empty; nothing is pre-loaded.
- 2
Open Billing, search or tap products, and save. Tax and rounding are worked out for you; CGST and SGST are split automatically, and an out-of-state customer is charged IGST instead.
- 3
When a delivery arrives, record a Restock. It adds the quantity, updates the cost price and refreshes the received date on every item in one step.
- 4
Watch the Dashboard each morning. Expiring stock and anything that needs reordering are at the top, with the money at stake on each line.
- 5
Open Insights for the full advisor. Any suggestion can be applied with one tap, and the charts underneath show the evidence behind it.
- 6
Take a backup from Settings once a week. It is the only copy — there is no server to restore from.
Why not something else
Each row names the thing you would otherwise install, because “better” is meaningless without saying better than what.
| If you would otherwise use | What changes with KiranaTrack |
|---|---|
| Vyapar, Zoho Inventory and similar billing suites | Those are built for a business with a computer, an accountant and a subscription. KiranaTrack runs on one phone, costs nothing, and works with the internet off — which is what a shop counter actually has. |
| Expiry-only tracker apps | A tracker tells you a packet expires on Friday. KiranaTrack tells you what to do about it, caps any suggested discount by that item's own margin so the cut cannot sell below cost, and puts the rupee amount on the line. |
| Paper registers | A paper book cannot answer "which lines have not sold in a month" or "what did I actually make today". This can, and it keeps the audit trail that explains why any quantity changed. |
| Spreadsheets | The stock value, the expiry list and the advisor all stay correct automatically. There is no formula to maintain and nothing to forget to update. |
What's inside
GST billing
Intra-state bills split the tax into CGST and SGST; inter-state bills carry IGST. Mixed-rate bills accumulate tax per rate so the lines sum back to the declared rate exactly, and the bill rounds to whole rupees with the adjustment recorded.
Stock and expiry ledger
Colour-coded by how soon each batch expires, with a configurable warning window. Non-perishables are tracked as a distinct state rather than being assumed fresh, so the health chart never overstates what is being watched.
An advisor that reads your own numbers
Measured sales velocity drives reorder quantities, category medians expose margin leaks, stock age exposes dead capital, and day-of-week patterns show when to restock. Every finding names the money and carries a confidence score.
One-tap actions
Advice is applied through the same write path as doing it by hand, so applying a markdown or a reorder point leaves the same audit entry a manual change would.
Day book and reconciliation
Takings by cash, UPI, card and credit (udhaar) for any period, with CSV export for an accountant or Tally.
Thermal-style receipts
Every bill prints as an 80mm receipt with the full tax split and the GSTIN.
Backup, restore and export
A single JSON file holds everything and is the only copy worth keeping. Restores are validated and refuse a file from a newer build rather than silently dropping fields.
Entirely local
No account, no server, no telemetry. Uninstalling removes everything, which is the only way your data can leave the device.
What it doesn't do
Stated here rather than left to be discovered after installing.
- Data lives on this device only. There is no cloud sync, so a second phone starts from scratch and uninstalling clears the ledger — take backups.
- Bills cannot be edited once saved, because an issued GST invoice is a legal document. A mistake is corrected with a fresh bill.
- There is no barcode scanner yet; products are found by typing or tapping. This is the biggest gap for a busy counter.
- The optional AI briefing needs an API key from a hosted provider. Everything else, including the whole advisor, works with no key and no internet.
What's changed
- v1.1.0
A proper launcher icon — it no longer shows the default Capacitor logo. The app now tells you when a new version is ready, without ever blocking your work. A welcome message on first open, a loading animation, and your studio credit on every screen.
- v1.0.1
Starts empty. Earlier versions loaded a sample shop on first open; this one does not, so nothing you did not enter is mixed in with your own records. If you installed 1.0.0, a banner on the dashboard clears it in one tap.
- v1.0.0
First release.
